College of William & Mary, Hackathon
Students from universities spread across the East Coast traveled to Williamsburg to attend the College of William & Mary Hackathon the first weekend of April 2016. The three-day event was organized by TribeHacks, which is a student-run group. The Hackathon Chair, Ulises Giacoman, a recent Hackathon winner and Logapps intern for the last two summers, asked us to join the weekend event. We were grateful for the opportunity to participate and offer an award for a challenging problem. The Logapps team supplied the Natural Language Processing (NLP) problem, and four teams actively competed to design the code to crack the problem statement.
Team Verb Pattern + was named the winner. We were impressed by all of the teams who attempted our challenge. The Hackathon teams displayed advanced NLP understanding and coding skills, worked day and night, and presented well. We thank all the participants who willingly enlisted three days (possibly with no sleep) to interact with other fellow colleagues to learn, achieve, and grow. “Winners or not, everyone leaves the event a winner for gaining knowledge in something they did not know before,” said a student member of TribeHacks.
